How to do referencing in research paper

The reference page is considered as one of the crucial elements in the research paper as it helps in avoiding plagiarism and proves that the research is done in good and healthy way. Further, by providing the reference about sources from which the information has been taken grants the credit to the other people and also proves about diligence.
Also, doing the proper reference in any research paper publication will fetch you good marks.

The following steps can be followed for doing the reference in the research paper:
1)      If you are following any specific format like APA or MLA then write the title in normal text and use the font, size and format as it is used in the rest of paper. Also, write“ Reference” at the top of the page or in the centre. If you not using any specific style then you can make the title bold or in the larger letters.

2)      The second step is to mention the source from which the information is taken. It includes any book, picture, newspaper, movie and any other source. Basically, the references have to provide for everything which is not original and is taken from some source.

3)      This step includes to provide thorough information about each source. If the information is taken from the book then it should include the name of the author, the source title and the date of publication and the publisher. If the information is from any journal do not forget to mention about the volume. Lastly, if the information you took from any website such as www.ijtra.com always mention its URL. Further, mentioning this in the reference will make your research paper look more authentic.

4)      Further, make sure that you follow the same format in the reference. If your reference is double spaced then there is no need to add an extra line between the entries. If you using single spaced format then you add one line blank space between each entry.

5)      The last and final step is to alphabetize the list depending upon the author’s name. If there is single author the entry must contain his last name as the first name. If there are multiple author for one book then the entry must be according to first author last name. Further, most of the word processing programmes have an option of alphabetizing which if turned on can automatically arrange the name thus saving the effort and help in preventing mistakes.

Conclusion

So, following all the above steps can help you in writing the reference in the best way. There are many website like www.ijtra.com which helps the student on how topublish the scientific researchpaper but make sure that the reference is considered as the important part of any research paper. The research paper without any reference is considered fake and no book or the online website accepts it for the publication.
